Welcome to the LMSD Chess Portal, a platform designed for chess enthusiasts of all skill levels. We are thrilled to announce the upcoming championship event, where you will have the opportunity to engage in friendly matches with members from across all divisions of the Mechanical Department.
The website grants you access to the event schedule and various tournament tables. Rest assured, the website will be regularly updated throughout the entirety of the 2024 Edition. Stay tuned for further announcements regarding the competition's structure, which will be determined based on survey results and participant numbers.
Similar to last year's edition, we are offering two options for gameplay: face-to-face matches and online matches on Lichess.org. This allows participants to choose the mode that best suits their preferences and circumstances.

The players cannot draw a game by agreement before black’s 20th move. A claim for a draw before black’s 20th move is permitted only in cases of a threefold repetition or a stalemate. Players get 1 point for a win, ½ point for a draw and no points for a loss.
Two important notes about the game:

• Case of online game: if it turns out that you mis-clicked the displacement of a piece, there is a curved arrow to request a takeback. But you will have to ask for a takeback immediately. Do not even wait 3 seconds to do it. Otherwise, your opponent could consider that you changed your mind afterwards, and he will have the right to decline it.
• Case of a live game: Firstly, If you touch a piece, you have to play it. Secondly, when moving a piece, the move is accomplished as soon as you release it from your hand. You can not retake it and put it in another position.
